SFAI U15 Cup R3 Southend 2 Spa Utd 2
Southend win 10-9 on pens
We took an early lead after two minutes when Jayden and Paul worked well on the wing to provide the cross for Sean to add another goal to his seasons tally.
At ten minutes it was level after which the game remained a very even contest. Spa Utd took the lead and held it for most of the game until Paul
headed in the equaliser from Leo's corner. Extra time couldn't separate the teams. An amazing penalty shootout would follow with all 22 players taking a penalty. Our goalkeeper Darragh was the hero, just as Kelleher was for Liverpool a few years back, saving their 11th penalty and then stepping up himself to score the winner. Heart breaking for Spa Utd. We wish them a very good season and they can expect one based on their performance today. Thanks for all the support on the side lines, after all the nerves were shattered there was a real buzz around the ground and clubhouse. A great day for the club with this win ensuring 6 wins from 6 in the schoolboy section.
